TIPS for a successful letter

Remember...we are trying to encourge these politicians NOT to table Oreo's law on Tuesday June 15. Tell them who you are. If you live in New York, let them know, and make sure you send to the legislators that work for you.

If you are a rescue or affiliated with a rescue, tell them.

Tell them why you think they should support the bill. Be honest, be passionate, make good arguments.

If you have an example of an animal that would have been saved by Oreo's Law or killed in a kill shelter, mention him or her.

Thank them for reading the bill and for their support.

There's no need for a salutation (Dear Assembly Member Jones). We will put that in.

Don't be negative, don't be mean, don't swear or otherwise
be a jerk. You might want to tactfully mention that this year's election is about how well legislators listen to their constituents and people you know overwhelmingly support Oreo's law (especially if you are in New York this is important).

Show your passion for the lives of these animals.
